In 2009 Pav, and The Pukeko Party, took themselves from relative obscurity to 10th spot on the on the long list of candidates.

Pav is confident they will do even better this year with your support.

Being a pook himself, Pav is well qualified to represent his species.

At his recent campaign launch, Pav said that in these early days of the public face of the Pukeko party, members do not expect to take the top few spots, but they will be around for the long haul in the years to come.

He hopes, with increased awareness, New Zealanders will realise the true value of pooks to society and the economy and they might, one day, become national icons The benefits they offer are that they are not endangered, they are daytime birds – no hint of shyness.

They don’t hide themselves away from tourists, they do fly, and they are devastatingly attractive. They come in New Zealand’s national colours of red, white and blue – and black. Perfect for inclusion on future flag designs.

And they are hardy – Pav is approaching his second birthday after being rescued as a day-old chick when his feathered mother was killed on the road. He now lives with a human mother.

It goes without saying, pooks are smart. They already have their own television spots promoting community well-being with their energy-saving and safety tips.

So don’t forget to vote PUKEKO.

Pav is as blog-tastic as he is bog-tastic and will answer any questions posed.

Pav would also like to remind voters and supporters that spring is an excellent time to begin cultivating ginormous green bean crops which he very much enjoys.
