Recently I attended a transition town meeting in Otaki. There were about 18 people attending and after watching a film on peak oil, we discussed strategies for keeping the town going. One of the great assets of Otaki is fertile land and already gardeners were getting together to swop plants, and ideas to enhance their large and edible gardens. Often when I read another article on climate change I get a bit gloomy. It sounds like we are done for. meeting this group of enthusiasts was inspiring and positive. It got me planting and planning self sufficiency throught solar energy.
