I'm trying to get my head round the logistics and genetics of this project. In a nutshell, why can't any of the thousands of bats you've seen in the North island be translocated to the Nelson area? I'm assuming that it's because the bats in each island are genetically distinct? Is this the reason?
My second question is why do you think they've decreased more in the South than in the North (assuming they were evenly distributed before the predation began).
Thanks. Sorry it sounds like me grilling you! 8-(

I'm wondering if you have a photo of the automated Bat detector? If you do could you send one to me as i have a project I am applying for for funding of a couple of units and can't seem to get hold of a photo to add with the application.
Many thanks

Hi Brian, I was wondering if you would be willing to help me with some advice about setting up a bat survey in my local forest?
Thanks

Thanks for the piece. Thinking about these majestic creatures, I ask myself how we ever started calling mentally challenged people 'batty.'
